Media Rights Capital, an independent production company that helped finance the film “Babel,” signed an agreement that will let striking Hollywood writers work on its projects.
The terms of the accord are similar to those that United Artists reached with the Writers Guild of America on Jan. 7, the union and M.R.C. said Monday in a statement.
M.R.C. is the fourth producer to sign an agreement with the guild, joining David Letterman’s Worldwide Pants, United Artists and the Weinstein Company. The deal will allow M.R.C. to continue work on feature films and a series of animated shorts developed by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of “Family Guy,” an M.R.C. spokeswoman, Susie Arons, said.
Hollywood writers went on strike Nov. 5 after negotiators failed to reach an accord with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents the studios, on pay for writers’ work viewed on the Internet and mobile devices.
